FAQs

Got questions? We have answers! Scroll down to get all the important information you need to enjoy our tour!

Where does the tour begin and end?

The tour starts on the Chicago Riverwalk at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, 24 E. Wacker Drive. The tour ends at Wolf Point, across from 333 W. Wacker Drive. (NOTE: The starting point and ending point are not the same; we are walking in a line, not a loop!)

How long is the tour?

Out & About: An Unfiltered Chicago History is a 75-minute walking tour. The distance covered is about 0.5 miles.

Is your tour route ADA accessible?

Yes! There are ramps to and from the street level at both the starting location (between N State St and N Wabash Ave) and at the end (Wolf Point). Both of these ramps lead up to West Wacker Drive (also known as “Upper Wacker”). The tour route is on flat, even terrain.

What happens if there is bad weather? Rain, snow, etc.

During incidents of bad weather, Out & About reserves the right to cancel any scheduled tour at any point before the tour begins. If a tour is cancelled, ticketed guests will be offered a chance to reschedule their tickets, or can request a full refund.

What if something comes up (sickness, emergency, etc.)? Can we reschedule our tickets?

Yes! You can reschedule any tour tickets as long as you submit your request more than 12 hours in advance of the tour start time.

What if I have to cancel our tickets? Can I get a refund?

You are eligible for a full refund if you submit your cancellation request 7 days or more before your tour. If you submit your request within 3-7 days of your scheduled tour, you are eligible for a 50% refund. If you submit your request less than 3 days before your scheduled tour, you will not be eligible for a refund.

Is your tour appropriate for kids?

Our recommended age for tour guests is 13+ years old due to the content of the tour. However, visitors of all ages are welcome at the parents’ discretion.

Do your tour guides accept gratuity?

Yes! While not expected or required, Ricki and Antonio appreciate tips in any form, especially cash.

How else can I prepare for the tour?

  • Stay hydrated and bring a bottle of water if it’s a summer day.

  • Please eat beforehand as there will be no time to stop for snacks.

  • Please use/bring sunscreen or bug spray as fits your body’s needs.

  • If it is cold, wear layers as the riverwalk can get chilly during colder months.
