FAQs

Got questions? We have answers! Scroll down to get all the important information you need to enjoy our tour!

Where does the tour begin and end?

The tour starts on the Chicago Riverwalk at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, 24 E. Wacker Drive. The tour ends at Wolf Point, across from 333 W. Wacker Drive.

If you use your GPS, type in 24 E Wacker Drive. Once you arrive, you will find stairs, a ramp, and an elevator next to either State St. or Wabash Avenue that will bring you down to the riverwalk level next to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. (NOTE: The starting point and ending point are not the same; we are walking in a line, not a loop!)

How long is the tour?

Out & About: An Unfiltered Chicago History is a 75-minute walking tour. The distance covered is about 0.5 miles, walking at a standard pace.

Is your tour route ADA accessible?

Yes! There are ramps and elevators to and from the street level at both the starting location (between N State St and N Wabash Ave) and at the end (Wolf Point). Both of these ramps lead up to West Wacker Drive (also known as “Upper Wacker”).

The tour route is on flat, even terrain, walking at a standard pace.

What happens if there is bad weather? Rain, snow, etc.

During incidents of bad weather, Out & About reserves the right to cancel any scheduled tour at any point before the tour begins. If a tour is cancelled, ticketed guests will be offered a chance to reschedule their tickets, or can request a full refund.

What if something comes up (sickness, emergency, etc.)? Can we reschedule our tickets?

Yes! You can reschedule any tour tickets as long as you submit your request more than 12 hours in advance of the tour start time. Contact us at out.and.about.walkingtours@gmail.com.

What if I have to cancel our tickets? Can I get a refund?

You are eligible for a full refund if you submit your cancellation request more than 24 hours in advance of the tour start time. For example, if your tour starts at 11:00 am on a Friday, you must let us know before 11 am on Thursday. Contact us at out.and.about.walkingtours@gmail.com

Is your tour appropriate for kids?

Our recommended age for tour guests is 13+ years old due to the content of the tour. However, visitors of all ages are welcome at the parent or guardians' discretion.

Do your tour guides accept gratuity?

Yes! While not expected or required, Ricki and Antonio appreciate tips in any form, especially cash.

How else can I prepare for the tour?

  • Stay hydrated and bring a bottle of water if it’s a summer day.

  • Please eat beforehand or bring a snack as there will be no time to stop for food.

  • Please use/bring sunscreen or bug spray as fits your body’s needs.

  • If it is cold, wear layers as the riverwalk can get chilly during colder months.

  • Though there will be no time to stop to use the restroom during the tour, there are public restrooms on the tour route that you can access before or after.
